They used an Isuzu 1.8L diesel in 83-85 at least -- I bought a demo 84 model in January 85. The diesel is a lot heavier than the 1.6L four, should be about the same weight as a small block. I believe hot rod moved the engine back about 12" to get a 50/50 weight distribution, the front suspension was left stock and they cobbled up a rear suspension with junkyard parts and a 9" kinda crude but the bugger hauled.
